Brief Profile

Prof. (Dr.) Anand K. Pradhan currently serves as the Regional Director of the Eastern Regional Campus of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) in Dhenkanal, Odisha. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he holds the position of Head of the Department of Media and Communication Governance at the Institute.

Dr. Pradhan joined IIMC, New Delhi, in May 2003 as an Assistant Professor and promoted to Professor in 2019. He briefly held the position of Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Media Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, from August to November 2007. He returned to IIMC in November 2007 as an Associate Professor of Journalism.

Dr. Pradhan completed his Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, and was awarded a Ph.D. in Journalism from BHU in 2002.

In addition to his academic work, Dr. Pradhan conducts training workshops for public relations professionals from public sector undertakings (PSUs), central and state government officials, and members of the armed forces.

He is a regular contributor of opinion pieces, news analysis, and feature articles to leading national newspapers and magazines.

Experience
Prof. (Dr.) Anand K. Pradhan has over two decades of extensive experience in journalism and media education. Prior to his academic tenure, he worked as an Assistant News Editor at All India Radio's News Services Division. In addition, Dr. Pradhan has held leadership roles in various flagship academic and training programs at IIMC, including the Diploma in Development Journalism for mid-career foreign journalists. His professional training includes international exposure through programs like the Study of the United States Institute (SUSI) at Ohio University. 
 
Awards and Honours
Dr. Pradhan was honoured with the prestigious Sahityakar Samman for his significant contributions to Hindi Journalism in 1997-98, an award conferred by the Hindi Academy under the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
