Dr Rakesh Goswami is a professor of journalism at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi, and heads the English Journalism department. He is also the Controller of Examinations and in charge of admissions. He is a Google News Initiative (GNI) India Training Network trainer, and conducts workshops on identifying and busting mis-, mal- and disinformation. Prior to this appointment, he was the regional director of IIMC’s Jammu campus. He has been a journalist for 22 years working across the electronic and print media. He began his career from Hindustan Times Lucknow as a sub editor and has worked with Channel 7 (now called Network18India), a Hindi news channel, as the Rajasthan bureau chief, and Times Now, an English news channel, reporting from Rajasthan. After nine years of TV, he returned to the print, his first love, and headed the editorial operations of Hindustan Times in Rajasthan until his appointment as Professor at the IIMC in October 2020. He won the University Gold Medal for scoring the highest marks in MJMC in University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. He did his doctorate from the same university on Rajasthani cinema. Dr Goswami loves to teach reporting, editing, creative writing and development journalism. |
