The Indian Institute of Mass Communication was incorporated by the Executive Council on 7 October 1967 under the powers conferred by Rule 32 (i) of the Rules and Regulations of the Indian Society of Mass Communication, registered on 22 January 1966 under the Indian Societies Registration Act (XXI) of 1860. Approval was received. It was amended from time to time as required.
