The department is headed by Prof. (Dr.) Sangeeta Pranvendra & the team includes HoP (Head of Programming) Mr. Vinod Kumar Sharma, Ms Kavita Sharma,Ms Farzeen Sultan Mr. Shashank Shekhar .

ONE OF THE OLDEST COMMUNITY RADIO STATIONS OF NEW DELHI.

Apna Radio has been running as a Community Radio of IIMC, New Delhi for the last 11 years now. Inaugurated on 09.09.2005, Apna Radio used to broadcast four hours a day. The transmission has been extended to seven hours a day since February, 2013.

APNE AAS PAAS

In August 2014, we started our daily Live Show ‘Apne Aas Paas’ and gradually increased its duration to 60 minutes. This show has now become a Flagship Program of Apna Radio. We discuss topics of the day and invite subject-experts on phone or for Phone-in Programs in the studio and engage our listeners to interact with them live.

‘BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO’ CAMPAIGN

‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign has been another milestone for Apna Radio. We have interviewed Save Female Child activists like Dr. Puneet Bedi, made in-house Radio Jingles and Spots and produced a Radio Play ‘Khushi’ on the theme.

TEEN TALK

This 8 – Episode programe on Adolescent Health Program was broadcast between May-June 2016. This was well received by School Children and their parents of the community. Encourage by the success of Season – I, Apna Radio is planning now the Season – II of this series. This may go on air in October-November this year.

ASSOCIATION WITH DELHI LEGAL SERVICES AUTHORITY

In association with Delhi Legal Services Authority (South), we have done Phone-in programs/Interviews for the benefit of domestic workers, child laborers, victims of domestic violence and senior citizens etc.

ASSOCIATION WITH SOUTH DELHI MUNICIPAL CORPORATION

Apna Radio has spoken to the Mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation and a number of Nigam Parshads on the civic problems of various municipal wards of South Delhi. Similarly senior authorities from various government departments have also been involved.

APNI CHAUPAL AND APNI BASTI

The participation of the Urban villages and JJ clusters of the community has shown a marked increase due to the programs like ‘Apni Chaupal’ and ‘Apni Basti’ in which the public of these areas communicate to the authorities.

ASSOCIATION WITH DELHI POLICE

Some senior officers of Delhi Police have been taken live on the subjects like Operation Milap on Missing Children, opening Platform School for rag-picking children, self-defense training for school girls. Senior Police officers of Delhi Traffic Police have been taken on air live on the themes like Road safety.

HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMS

We have been speaking to the Doctors of AIIMS, Max Hospital, Fortis Hospital, Batra Hospital, BLK Super Specialty Hospital and LNJP Hospital on various health issues including Organ Donation. Besides, we are putting on air Messages and Radio Jingles on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

YOGA AND AYUSH

Apna Radio has been inviting Yog-Acharyas and the Doctors from Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Unani systems of Medicine in its Health Programs. A number of phone-in programs have also been broadcast involving these experts.

ASSOCIATION WITH NOG's AND RWA's

Apna Radio is closely associated with some NGOs of the area like Chetna, Society for the Promotion of Youth and Masses (SPYM), Can Support, Senior Citizens Welfare Association, (SCWA), Force, Centre for Science and Enviornment (CSE), Haq, Muskaan, Dastkar and Indus Action. Our team covers what they do for the benefit of the community.

We have been engaging some Schools, Experts and RWAs of the area on different social issues.

 

Video Studio

With a view to developing a high impact and good knowledge base amongst its students and trainees in the field of electronic journalism, the Institute has a modern production studio, equipped with digital cameras with synch and special effects generators. The editing consoles comprise I-Mac, FCP Mac-Pro digital video editing systems and on-line digital video editing. For radio transmission, the Institute has separate sound recording, FM and voice-over studios, which are used for imparting training in Radio and TV technology.

The Institute has partially upgraded its analogue tape-based equipment to modern digital technology. This provides students with hands-on experience on digital cameras and non-linear editing that are universally employed in T.V. channels today.

For strengthening the infrastructure available with the Institute, it has acquired two high-end FCP Mac Pro video edit machines for a network-based digital non-linear video editing system at New Delhi, with stand-alone, non-linear edit systems and a high-end digital graphic support system for T.V. and print media. Digital still cameras, along with accessories, were also acquired for sufficiently strengthening the training in audio-visual and print areas. Digital video and still cameras, teleprompter machines and iMacs for non-linear editing have also been procured for our Regional Centres at Aizwal, Amravati, Jammu and Kottayam.

 

Audio Studio

The Institute is equipped with the requisite facilities for radio news-gathering: professional tape and digital recorders, microphones and other accessories. The sound studio has reasonably comprehensive facilities:

  • YAMAHA 03D full track console recorder.
  • Sony 8 channel Audio Mixer MXP-290 for standby recording.
  • A six channel On-Air console with specialization facilities.
  • Portable Sony IC recorders that record directly into MP3 and WAV Sound formats.
  • Shure Microphones SM 58.
  • Adobe Audition Software units with Editing and Recording facilities for programme production.
  • Multitrack TASCAM containing a minidisk player, CD player, cassette player for transmission
  • Specialised Broadcast Equipment.

For radio transmissions, the Institute has separate sound recording, FM and voice-over Studios, which are also utilized for imparting training in radio technology.
