Academic staffs

Shri LR.Sailo had an early education in Shillong (Meghalaya) at Don Bosco Technical School till 1966. Graduated from St. Anthony's College, Shillong with Honours in Economics in 1971. He taught at the St. Anthony's School till 1973. Before entering Mizoram Government Service in 1973, was involved in Social Works like Roteracts, Moral Rearmament and had travelled across Europe with Mr. Rajmohan Gandhi, the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, then Editor in Chief of Himmat Weekly. Spoke at the Universities in Lyon in France, Rotterdam in Netherlands, Oxford and Cambridge in England and to the University students in Trento Italy about Non-violence. He had worked and lived with Irish rebels in Northern Ireland at Derry and Belfast in 1971.

He had served as Director, Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Mizoram for over 20 years and also served as Press Secretary to Chief Minister for two terms during the tenure of MrLalThanhawla.

While in Government service, had attended Basic Course in Mass Communication in the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi in 1975 and had attended several courses in the Institute like Photography for Mass Communication, Internet, etc. He had photographs published in national magazine like Dharmayug. He had also conducted courses in Photography for college students under the auspices of NSS, North Eastern Hill University. He had conducted several Professional courses in Journalism for officials and local media.

He was honoured by Public Relations Council of India at Bangalore in 2009 by admitting him into the Hall of Fame. He was accredited with the 'Fellow of the Brain Trust of ABCI' by Association of Business Communicators of India at Bombay and he was also conferred Vocational Excellence Award by Rotary Club of Aizawl in 2008.

While he was serving as Press Secretary to Chief Minister, he was invited to start the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in Mizoram. He was formally invited to be Special Officer at that time, i.e. 2011 which he had helped started in the Mizoram University Campus since August 2011. Since then the Institute has been functioning and has completed 11 batches of post Graduate Diploma in English Journalism.

Dr. C. Lalmuansangkimi is a NET (qualified four times) and Ph.D holder in Mass Communication who is working as an Assistant Professor at IIMC North East Campus, Aizawl since its inception in 2011. She has 12 years of teaching experience with IIMC.

She has industrial experiences as an empanelled producer (outside)/ Documentary Filmmaker with Doordarshan and had made several documentary films broadcasted by Doordarshan; she had served as an online translator for Press Information Bureau (PIB), Aizawl; a Consultant (IEC) under Public Health Engineering Department, Government of Mizoram and a Programme Producer at LPS (Cable Television Channel, Aizawl).

She completed Bachelor of Arts with honours in Mass Communication and Video Production from St. Anthony's College, Shillong and Master Degree in Mass Communication from Bangalore University. She cleared the UGC-NET in December 2003, December 2004, June & December 2006 and she completed PhD with Course work from Assam University in 2009. She is a recipient of UGC-Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for SC/ST Candidates.

Dr.Kimi has published 14 research papers in UGC CARE List/Peer-reviewed journals. Her research interest and articles mainly focus on Mizoram and the North-East.  She has also contributed in edited books. She has been frequently invited as a resource person in several State, National and International level seminars/workshops/trainings.

Amy Felicia Danielle is an Academic-cum-Teaching Associate at Indian Institute of Mass Communication, North-East Regional Campus. She is also an IIMC Alumni Batch of 2016-17 from AizawlCampus, she completed her PG in Mass Communication and Journalism from Mizoram University in 2019 ranking 2nd in the class.

During IIMC Placement, she was selected to work for Press Monitor, Delhi. She completed her intern and worked part time for North-East Live, Guwahati in 2019 under the guidance of Editor-in-Chief WasbirHussain, she currently still has ties with NE Live and helps in translating and providing news. She has also completed her internship with LPS Visions Production, a local media house in 2016 under the role of junior correspondent. For completion of IIMC English Journalism course she has done her internship with All India Radio in 2017.

During her course of education through the years she has successfully made a documentary on ‘Traffic in Shillong’ during her under-graduate in English and Foreign Languages University, Shillong Campus in 2016. She has completed two dissertations titled ‘Internet as a means of Education’ (2017) and ‘Representation of Minorities in Mizoram Newspaper’ (2019). She also co-authored a research on ‘Media and marginality in Modern Mizoram’ (2021) which was published in Routledge.

She also writes and edits contents for her locality’s weekly newspaper ‘Tuitu’ and ‘NunnaEng’. She currently holds an important role in her locality where she is part of a Media and Documentation Cell for the Young Mizo Association (YMA) and Kristian Thalai Pawl (KTP). She is currently in the process of making a documentary which is scheduled to be release next year.
